In Superfast Circle we have a part of the programme called Mindset Monday; might sound corny I know and as many of us have experienced over the years our mindset has a huge impact on our results.
We record a video or present live on a topic that might shed insight every Monday and get people moving forward as their week starts.
Mindset and Doing The Work
Here is the thing; It’s our mind that gives us a shove to implement the idea our coach has been harping on about for years, that we still haven’t jumped on…… or we have argued with him, or her about why it’s won’t work in our sector!! #Yesbut
It’s our positive mindset that keeps us off chewing over what we don’t want to happen and onto what we really, truly want, and the list goes on.
Over the last couple of weeks, I have shared some different examples of the power of ‘doing the work’ (which often our mind makes us procrastinate about) inspired by re-reading (I do it about once a year) Steven Pressfield’s book of the same name.
It will cost you less than a decent glass of Sav B at Euston so here is a link.
In the book Steven alerts us to the following; “Our enemy is not lack of preparation; it’s not the difficulty of the project or the state of the marketplace or the emptiness of our bank account.
The enemy is resistance.
The enemy is our chattering brain, which, if we give it so much as a nanosecond, will start producing excuses, alibis, transparent self-justifications and a million reasons why he can’t/shouldn’t/won’t do what we know we need to do.”
Oh, how true!
Results From Unexpected Places
On last week’s video that we posted in the group, I shared about the phenomenon that occurs when we act and do the work.
Recently one of our clients shared with us how acting in one area of their business started producing results in others.
I told him that we had seen this happen many times- the more energy you are generating around your business, the more energy you attract.
Here are some of the ‘things’ that had happened for this client over a few days.
“Posted out a direct mail to a past client group on Wednesday night, and so far, these are some of the things that have happened:
- The prospect from direct letter no 3 rang
- A candidate viewed my LinkedIn profile and then sent a personal email
- A past prospect contacted me from a year ago
- The previous client reactivated
- A candidate commented on a recent video I shared and then rang my mobile…. “
Now, this might seem strange to some. However, I’ve found it happens time and time again.
You send an email campaign, and a prospect from a year ago (who wasn’t even on the list) calls out of the blue.
You make some follow up calls and the next day someone you didn’t call sends in a contact form from the website.
You finally start cold emailing prospects, and a referral pops up from somewhere completely different.
Call it what you will — energy, focus, coincidence, luck, God… it doesn’t really matter.
What’s important is this: It happens like clockwork.
Taking Action=Generating Results
……. and the results often come from places you’d least expect.
This is why momentum is so important.
Why one-shot marketing rarely works.
Because while the results of any one action you take can be unpredictable, the cumulative effect of doing the right things consistently over a long enough period makes you unstoppable.
Make a list of the marketing activities that you know work. If you need help with that check out this blog or email us for a quick chat here.
