Now then, the Internet is growing at a rate of knots and changing along with it. Now because of this lots of our clients and contacts ask us “So how do we stand out? How do we keep up with things? What’s the next big thing when it comes to marketing and content marketing?” One of those things is infographics and you’ll notice we’ve started to do more of them on our website as well. So today’s podcast is all about infographics, what they are, what opportunity they might bring for you and how you can get moving on it. So let’s get cracking!
Hi their listeners! This Denise from Super Fast Recruitment and today is all about infographics. If you are listening to this on iTunes head over to superfastrecruitment.co.uk\blog and just search on ‘infographics’ and as if by magic you will find a transcription of this podcast plus you will find an infographic that represents it. We are practising what we are teaching.
So why use infographics? Well, the 7 key reasons that I want to cover today about why infographics work, why it’s the big buzz thing at the moment and how you can start to build it into your marketing. So why do we use infographics?
People go online looking for information.
The search engines Google, Bing, whatever you decide to use is a repository for information and answers to the majority of your questions. So people go online looking for information and if there’s one thing that infographics do, it is communicate very well.
Some people are more visual than others.
We have mentioned this in other podcasts and other blog posts that we’ve done… As a population, as human beings, we have different preferences on how we consume information and some of us are more visual than others.
Actually, 40% of the population is what is known as ‘visually preferenced’. We prefer to consume information by looking at pictures, by looking at charts, by actually reading information rather than sort of listening to it. The posh term is we have ‘different modalities’ that we prefer. So for instance, you will notice on our website we will have infographics, we’ll have podcasts, we will have videos, we’ll have different types of information and content delivered in different ways so that people can consume it.
Infographics are a great way for you to be able to deliver information because as I said, 40% of the population is visually preferenced. 90% of us are hit by visual media all the time and we are drawn to it. So those are some key facts.
When I look through our statistics on Google Analytics and different posts and podcasts that I looked at, listened to or whatever, I noticed that content with lists always become one of our most highly visited content. A list is easy to consume. For instance, this is a list of ‘7 Ways That Infographics Can Help You In Your Marketing’. It’s easy to consume the information so that’s why people love lists.
You can use symbols and icons that appeal to people and make it easier to consume.
The other thing about visual media is that within an infographic you can use symbols, icons, all different things that again appeal to people and make it easier to consume your message. Part of doing an infographic or having an infographic created for you is that can use different symbols whether that’s social media icons or whatever. It becomes much easier then for people to read the information.
Shareability
One of the things about content online is sometimes people don’t have a lot of time. If you’ve got an infographic there and it really tells a story for you easily with some text but also some symbols, some little pictures and some icons. It is easier for people to consume and they really love them. The thing about them is their shareability.
People talk about things going viral and basically, all that means is people share them because they’re great. Now if you have a great infographic and you put it up on LinkedIn with a nice link, it is more likely to get shed and consumed than other pieces of content because it’s visual and people love them. So shareability – big thing and obviously the more things are shared, that social sharing is really important to Google in helping prioritize your site above others and for people to send traffic to them.
Printability
People actually will print off infographics. We have some of our subscribers saying, “I got your infographic on lead generation. I printed it off and it’s stuck next to my computer and I’m just working my way through the various steps Denise.” Printability – even in this day and age, many of us love to print pieces of information because again it’s visual, we can see them, it’s nice, and straightforward.
You can stand out.
A big thing for recruiters to bear in mind is that very few people that I can see in the recruitment space are using infographics. So as a recruitment company, you could really stand out by having your content displayed in this manner.
So that’s infographics and if you’re listening to this on iTunes, head over to our website because we do infographics. We started to add this in some of our social media packages at the request of a number of clients who said: “Hey, can you start doing this for us?” So we do. If you want to know more about that obviously get in contact with us.
So this is Denise with a quick podcast today all about infographics and as if by magic there will be an infographic on our website of this blog post. This is Denise from Super Fast Recruitment saying bye for now!
