I was reading a book over the weekend by a chap that I follow on Facebook who works in the real estate market in New York. He was talking about how he posted a picture of this particular apartment that he was selling and how this image was being shared innumerable times on Facebook, so much so that he managed to sell all the apartments in the block which was over $ 100 Million in revenue.

The power of social is certainly with us and that is the subject of today’s podcast and infographic.

We have an infographic for you today with some facts and figures for you – there are 7.2 Billion people on the planet and 45% of those are active users of online platforms.

What does that mean? Well, it means you have to have a significant online presence. But where do you need this? Well, social is huge.

I mentioned the story of the book that I’ve been reading “The Sell” by Fredrik Eklund. Great book if you are interested! He talks about how he has leveraged social media and Instagram and Facebook to create his realtor business over in the U.S.

Let’s get back to what we are talking about here and what that opportunity is. 2.1 Billion people across the planet have social media accounts. You might say “How many use them, Denise?” Well, a significant percentage.

The latest data is 1.7 Billion people have active social media accounts. This obviously includes a whole spectrum of people from people buying the latest gadget to B2B customers. What’s important to recognise and remember is you can contact your B2B people through social media. Don’t think it is just a consumer channel because it definitely is not.

Finally, to round it off we talked about mobile. We keep talking about mobile and 3.7 Million people have access via their smartphone to the internet.

You can see all these figures on the infographic, enjoy!
