Many recruitment business owners that we speak to will say to us “So, where do I start? How do I get this all done? How do I map it out?” That’s where the ‘f’ word comes in and that’s ‘frameworks’ so it’s the subject of today’s podcast.
I have been learning a lot about frameworks recently at a marketing conference that I attended in Australia. Frameworks was the theme of the conference.
Why am talking about this today? Well, I attended a marketing conference over in Sydney. Amazing! I met some people that I have been connected with for a number of years and had a fantastic time. As of course when you go to a conference you need some time off as well don’t you?!
It was a great conference. I was in conversation with a number of people who have businesses that have really increased their profits and moved to a different profit level by utilizing different types of marketing strategies; a key strategy being frameworks.
If you are completing a task more than once
If you think about it we all utilise these in our business at some level. So anything that you are going to do more than once then you need to make sure you have a process in place and a framework for doing that.
So for instance, we have a framework for content creation and the reason we do this is we are creating content for our clients. Clients may have specific promotional events going on. They may have a particular type of candidate or client that they want to attract and we need to know how we are going to create the content to attract that person in.
On the surface it may appear complex because there are many stages, however it is simple because all the steps that need to be followed are there.
It therefore enables us to produce content for our clients that hits the spot and we know we are covering everything and that’s because we have developed our own framework.
An example
Imagine that you have a specific activity in your business, maybe it is one of the marketing activities, maybe its social media for instance and you know that you want to make sure that you have a certain number of social shares going out.
How are you going to structure that? That is where a framework can come in. For instance.
- You decide what’s the outcome that I want?
- Where do I want to take the reader of this particular social share to?
- As in a landing page on my website or to give them a piece of information?
- How often do I want to do it?
- What sort of time frame do I want?
Remember we’ve talked a lot about Cialdini’s principles of influence and consistency. If people can see that you are doing things consistently, there’s a specific type of format, then that works.
For example with the BBC news, we know that it’s on a particular format.
Courtesy of BBC
We know at the beginning there’s a snippet of everything that is going on in the news and therefore If there is one piece of content I am interested in I can probably work out that its going to be half way through? Perhaps number 3 when it comes to stories.
Therefore I know I have still got time to grab a cupper or a glass of wine and then come back and then sit there. Over the years I have got to know their ‘framework’ because it is a framework they use at the BBC or ITV or whatever that works.
It is the same in business. If you have a framework that you can put together like for a social media framework that you are going to put together, you will be able to leverage content that you have and make sure it is getting to the right people in the right format.
So that could be for instance that you are sharing X number of pieces of blog content a month. It could be a number of quotations. It could be links on landing pages on your site. It could be links to particular jobs you have. But if you do that in a format, it makes things so much easier and quicker. What seems like a huge task then you find actually isn’t because you can start to prepare for it ahead of time.
So frameworks – big thing. It is something that I took away when I was in Sydney a couple of weeks ago. We’ll be talking more on a few podcast episodes on how you can build your frameworks into your recruitment company. This is Denise from Super Fast Recruitment saying bye for now and think about your frameworks in your business.
