Following a successful recruitment career Steve decided to launch his own recruitment company in the Accounting, Tax, and insolvency sectors.
Hedley Scott was established in 2013 and is based in Sydney Australia and specialise in both Professional Practice and Commercial accounting recruitment.
Completing the SFR marketing audit checklist was a wake-up call. I realised how much more we could have been doing. We lacked any marketing collateral, had limited exposure on social media, and were only emailing out potential jobs to candidates and candidate profiles to clients.
We were looking to raise our brand and become an authority in the accounting recruitment space in Sydney. We had tried the services of other marketing companies, but they didn’t understand the recruitment industry and what our challenges were.
We were time-poor and didn’t have the expertise or knowledge to develop a marketing strategy.

I came across The Recruitment Marketing and Sales Podcast which resonated well with me. It all made sense and made me question what we were and weren’t doing.

We have also been regularly posting to our social media channels and I have built my LinkedIn connections to over 11K and our company page to over 4K followers. I am constantly achieving over 5K post impressions on LinkedIn per week.
We use Bullhorn automation and send out the SFR monthly blogs to candidates and clients which allows us to see who is clicking and engaging with them. We often get hundreds of views and downloads. This in turn allows us to target our calls to engaged contacts. Where we then make placements.
Through constantly nurturing our candidates and clients, we are providing our market with heaps of value and generating more inbound leads
Our business has come a long way since we became members of Superfast Circle. We now have a ton of marketing collateral and always have relevant blogs and reports available to help provide advice and guidance to both candidates and clients.
Our website traffic has also grown hugely, we had over 19,000 web page views last month.
We can provide a way more consultative service and demonstrate we are an authority in the accounting recruitment marketplace, which is critical in such a changing business landscape.
I have been a member of Superfast Circle for a few years now, but they are always creating new training and ideas for blogs/reports and making them relevant to what’s happening in the market.
It’s very easy to adjust the reports to our niche and geographical market. They also provide a lot of extra value with calls, training, email campaigns, and their online learning platform.
